Singer, that provides a brief history of the legal process of abolishing slavery in the United States, including Gordon Granger's reading of General Order No. 3 to the citizens of Galveston, Texas, freeing the remaining enslaved individuals in the state, which became known as "Juneteenth"--also known as Freedom Day or Jubilee Day, celebrates and commemorates the emancipation of enslaved individuals in the United States.
