Chronicling America features a September 7, 1893 article, writer unknown, from the Capital Journal that announces the enforcement of the Geary Act of 1892- the Act that added additional immigration requirements and penalties to the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. The article gives an account of Congressman Thomas J. Geary’s (D-IL) certainty about funding available to enforce the new law, via arrests and deportations, for Chinese descended people who do not comply.
Of note are the two short articles below the above that discuss the arrest and deportation of Chinese people who failed to get registered under the new law (Geary Act) in northern and southern California.
