Description
Library of Congress presents an 1866 historical illustration, drawn by Thomas Nast, that depicts President Andrew Johnson (D-TN)--who became the 17th President of the United States after President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in April of 1865--standing across the counter from an individual dressed as Uncle Sam and holding a glass out to Johnson. The man says, "Now, Andy, take it right down. More you Look at it, worse you'll Like it."
