Description
The Widener Library at Harvard University presents a 1902 brochure for the Penn School, one of the first schools for formerly enslaved African Americans established on St. Helena Island in Beaufort, South Carolina. The brochure includes a list of the board of trustees, a perspective on missionary teachers Laura Matilda Towne and Ellen Murray's work there, new educational and operational matters.
