The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens presents an 1870 historical illustration, featured in Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper, that depicts the streets of New York City after the adoption of the15th Amendment--which prohibits the denial of suffrage to any United States citizens based off of race. The illustration depicts marching bands, mounted horses, and groups of people marching with various signs while groups of people watch from the sidelines.
