The Library of Congress presents an 1872 political cartoon, drawn by J. Standing on top of the boudler is Ulysses S. Grant (left) and Charles Schurz (right), who is holding a large mallet that says, "Cincinnati Nomination," intending to bring it down on Greeley's head. Surrounding the base of the rock are notable figures, such as Charles Sumner (LR-MA)--the leader of the anti-slavery forces in Massachusetts and the Radical Republicans in the United States Senate.
