The Library of Congress features an 1868 historical dialogue, published by the Union Republican Congressional Committee, that provides a conversation between a white republican and an African American citizen in which they discuss the Freedmen's Bureau--which was created by the Freedmen's Bureau Act and provided aid to free African Americans and displaced Southerners after the Civil War--and the rights of African Americans.
