Chronicling America feature a March 26, 1898 article, writer unknown, that appeared in the Appeal newspaper about the church meetings and resolutions that were passed related to the lynching of Frazier Baker- the first Black postmaster in Lake City, South Carolina who was murdered, along with his one year old daughter, in a racial terror attack by armed White men in 1898. According to the article, the "resolutions" created at the meetings proposed that the lynching was racially motivated, and that the federal government needed to intervene.
