Description
The Island News provides a March 26, 2015 article, written by "newsbyte," on an upcoming performance by the Stanford Talisman - a Stanford University a cappella group - as part of a fundraiser to support the renovation of Gantt Cottage at the Penn Center on St. Helena Island, South Carolina. According to the article, the original Gantt Cottage was named after Hastings Gantt- a formerly enslaved man who donated the original tract of land for the Penn School. Gantt was a businessman and served as a Beaufort representative in the South Carolina Legislature during the Reconstruction Era.
